So, you're looking to up your video chatting game using SkypeHD, but found that little camera in the lid of your laptop can't cut the mustard? Good news, friend, because Logitech's latest HD webcam, the C615, is here to shoot images of your face over the internet in 720p. Like its sibling, the C910, it works with both Macs and PCs and has one-click uploads to Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Additionally, the new unit takes 8-megapixel stills and 1080p videos (software limits video chat to 720p), plus it packs a 360-degree swiveling autofocus shooter to make viewing those hard to reach places easy. It's available now in the States for $79.99, and is making its way overseas in September. PR's after the break.

IBM Builds First Graphene Integrated Circuit

AffidavitDonda writes "IBM researchers have built the first integrated circuit (IC) based on a graphene transistor. The circuit, built on a wafer of silicon carbide, consists of field-effect transistors made of graphene. The IC also includes metallic structures, such as on-chip inductors and the transistors' sources and drains. The circuit the team built is a broadband radio-frequency mixer, a fundamental component of radios that processes signals by finding the difference between two high-frequency wavelengths."

The Engineer Guy Explains What Really Goes On Inside Hard Drives

URL: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/06/the-engineering-guy-explains-what-really-goes-on-inside-hard-drives/

Ever wondered how a hard drive works? I mean, we know it has something to do with frikkin’ magnets, but how do they work? Luckily, the Engineer Guy is here to explain, and also to help you spend five minutes not working on a Friday afternoon. Learn about arms, actuators, heads and Lorentz forces. And learn how on Earth you store ones and zeros on a spinning magnetic disk.

What amazes me is the combination of extremely simple principles, along with insanely difficult engineering to make it actually happen. It also makes me much less likely to pick up my laptop and plunk it back down without putting it to sleep first. I love, you, HDD, but cheap SSDs can’t come soon enough.

Novo Monitor Sony PlayStation 3

URL: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/digitaldrops/~3/Gusf3bResrw/story01.htm
